Usage notes

An ubiquitous greeting, used in pretty much the same way as the original French salut. To greet someone in the morningtime, the more specific joaldíem (from French bonjour) is preferred.

See also joalsẽrtdíem (good afternoon), joalfrodnochem (good evening), joalnochem (good night), joaltüvv (goodbye), and sẽrtósot (later).
