Usage notes

Marks the verb of an embedded or external relative clause, such as in:

  • M'aimat l'edo benaigerijat sívelaines. (I'm fond of the boy who can paint well.)
  • Lapinla, pleraulmaderijat zanauragrotune, bremavat hugeli poliezíenuna. (The rabbit doe, who once lived on a carrot farm, has become a brave officer.)
  • Lumo moz'amitat duerṣerijat mośsiblieba. (He is my friend whom my sister loves.) (Literally, "...loved by my sister".)
  • Luma mozo siblat m'aubimausmerijat selbkuamu. (She is my sister, whom I am smaller than.)
  • Jefro moavāvat l'amitada selbo pléskríberijat vousères. (Jeff has met the friend he once wrote letters to.) (The dative case marks the object of the sentence's first half.)
  • L'aumbro mé pévéyerijat vüëiddíemwobzolu peraulmäuvvat. (The man whom I saw yesterday went home.)

This also serves as the appositive case, as demonstrated with L'ouremarde Chikagerijo (The city of Chicago); Jefroń, Aulmaderijo (Jeff, Who Lives at Home); Grênạida, ńansulerije Karibinadi (Grenada, which is an island in the Caribbean); and Luma kimeriji nend plũrimótrés pévat (She, [= identified as] the queen, and several others went.)

This was inspired by the examples in "TL", a Latin-based conlang by Redditor "cyprinus_carpio" (May 2018 thread).

See also -ieb (ergative case marker), naumten (named/called/known as), and suj (identified as; used to translate English "be" in lead sections of encyclopedia articles).
